Truturn Precision Engineering has strengthened its quality assurance capabilities with the arrival of a new Aberlink Axiom Too Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), representing a significant investment in the company’s commitment to precision, quality and continuous improvement.
The new CMM has been added to Truturn’s Quality Department to provide enhanced dimensional inspection and measurement capability across the company’s range of precision-machined components.
The investment will allow Truturn to carry out more detailed and accurate dimensional verification, supporting existing customer requirements while also meeting the increasingly demanding quality expectations of the precision engineering sector.
Enhancing Quality & Inspection Capability
QHSE Manager Simon Lane believes the new CMM represents a significant step forward for Truturn’s quality and inspection capability.
“The Aberlink Axiom Too gives us a significant increase in our ability to accurately measure and verify components. It provides us with greater confidence in the dimensional accuracy of the parts we manufacture and gives our Quality Department a much more capable tool for both routine inspection and more complex measurement requirements.”
Simon added:
“From a quality perspective, it is about more than simply measuring a component. The CMM gives us better data, greater repeatability and improved traceability. It will help us identify potential issues earlier, support our corrective and preventative action processes and ultimately reduce the risk of non-conforming product reaching our customers.”
Supporting Customers & Future Growth
Commercial Director Rebecca Beacham sees the investment as another demonstration of Truturn’s commitment to providing customers with confidence in the products it supplies.
“Our customers expect precision, consistency and reliability, and this investment reinforces our ability to deliver all three. Having advanced CMM capability in-house allows us to provide a higher level of measurement and inspection, particularly as customer requirements become more demanding.”
Rebecca continued:

From an operational perspective, Operations Director Mike Shaw believes the new CMM will bring benefits across the wider manufacturing operation.
“The Axiom Too will give our production and quality teams a much closer link between manufacturing and inspection. Having this capability available in-house means we can obtain accurate measurement results quickly and use that information to make informed decisions within the manufacturing process.”
Mike added:
“Speed of feedback is extremely important in a modern manufacturing environment. The sooner we know how a component is performing against the drawing requirements; the sooner we can react if necessary. This will help us improve efficiency, reduce potential rework and support continuous improvement throughout our manufacturing processes.”
